Originally from Snellville, Georgia, Jaime Van Der Sluys is a dynamic vocalist with a deep soulful sound and a wide stylistic range. From jazz to pop, R&B to rock, Motown to hip hop, she entertains audiences with her sincere approach and natural presence. She newly resides in Long Beach, California. Jaime received her B.M. in jazz vocal performance from the prestigious college of music at the University of North Texas. While there she studied under Paris Rutherford, Rosana Eckert, and Rodney Booth. She also performed with the UNT Jazz Singers 1. During Jaime’s time in Texas, she was a lead vocalist for the David Whiteman Band which is one of the most versatile and entertaining dance/party bands in The Dallas/FT. Worth area. Over the past few years, Jaime has had the chance to perform at many exciting venues such as the Atlanta Jazz Festival (GA), Red Rock Casino (Los Vegas, NV), San Diego Convention Center(CA), Lakeside Jazz Festival (FL where she received an award for Best Jazz Vocals), The Kessler Theatre (TX), Allen USA Celebration Main Stage (TX), Texas Reds Steak and Wine Festival (TX), Winspear Hall (TX), and countless other venues. Jaime is currently pursuing her Master’s in jazz vocal performance at California State University, Long Beach. She studies under the renowned Christine Guter.
