Brother Yusef has been described as a master solo guitarist, as well as a uniquely pas-sionate vocalist. He has honed down his guitar skills and god-given vocals for over thirty years and has created a sound that had to be christened with a new name, Fattback Blues. Fattback Blues combines “traditional” finger picking and slide guitar playing with the contemporary feel of urban blues to create a full band sound with one guitar. He uses his right hand thumb to beat out a percussive bass-line and shuffle, while the index finger plays rhythm and lead lines. He has gained worldwide recognition performing at various music festivals, dance events and concert performances, both nationally and internationally. Brother Yusef approaches the blues from a musical, spiritual and social context. He is quoted as saying, “for African Americans blues has been about survival, healing and freedom ”. His performances will takes you on a musical journey from a backwoods jook joint to the fiery emotions of the sanctified church.
A musical project created by Keith Rollins, a Black American singer-songwriter born in the heartland of the United States, Reverend (to preach) Doctor (to heal) is about carrying a message of love and celebration as far and wide as their voice may reach. Rooted in the likes of Marvin Gaye, Ed Sheeran, and Leon Bridges – Reverend Doctors’ relentlessly optimistic music tells inspirational stories from their own life and creates community wherever their music is heard. Their story is everyone’s story: victory, loss, struggle, but marked by the decision to encourage others on a musical escapade across the world.
Sawyer Auger is a musician originally from Connecticut. Calling Los Angeles his home now, he can be seen nightly at venues throughout Southern California. He plays all of the classic to current hits!
Long before performing on stage in front of thousands at venues such as the Nokia Theater (Hollywood, CA) and the Georgia Dome (Atlanta, GA), Greg Scott an American singer-songwriter Multi-instrumentalist, and Record producer was born Gregory John Scott II on September 24th, 1982 in the small town of Chico, CA. Scott grew up watching his Dad perform fearlessly. Greg found his love of music and charisma through the voice and presence of his rock and soul singing Father Greg Scott Sr. Growing up performing and rehearsing night after night the lifestyle became normal for Scott. While also feeling the need and passion to write and produce Greg looked over the shoulders of many engineers and songwriters and slowly started to learn to record and produce himself. By age 17 Scott had already written and recorded an album, put together a band, and produced shows to promote the record all around his home town leading Greg to perform with The Platters Motown Review and with multi-platinum recording artists K-Ci & JoJo. After graduating from high school and doing as much as he could in such a small town, and being “Chico” famous he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area.
Influenced by Nancy Wilson, Eva Cassidy and Stevie Wonder, Andrea is currently heating up the Los Angeles and Orange County music scenes. Her voice can now be heard on the national jazz radio station KJAZZ 88.1. Recently, Andrea had the incredible honor to work with David Foster, Quincy Jones and Alan & Marilyn Bergman when recording the vocal demo for CELINE DION “I Knew I Loved You” at Foster’s studio in Malibu. Originally trained in opera at a young age, Andrea won first place in the Oregon State Vocal Competition in the first soprano category when only 14 years old, singing Leonard Bernstein’s complete work “I Hate Music”. She then went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater Performance from the University of Southern California.
Curtis Parry is a Frank Sinatra style artist that plays jazz and original music as well as beloved standards. Curtis is also part of a band called The Jazz Cartel, a nine-piece Frank Sinatra-style swing band based in sunny Los Angeles, California.
Presently, among gigs at the Long Beach Carpenter Center, Mckinney Theatre, and various clubs including Spaghettini’s Jazz Club, Anne is touring nationally and internationally. Anne along with her husband/pianist/arranger Tom Zink headlined in Brazil at the Chapada Jazz Festival in September 2013. “This was a life-changing experience on many levels. The people are warm, kind, and have such a love for music.”
John Heussenstamm is not only known for his monstrous jazz and blues chops, he is also acclaimed for his refreshing and highly entertaining stage presence. On any given night, as the OC Register describes, one can find him “strolling wireless through the crowd… tossing out licks with craft and showmanship.” Mastering the dynamics of the guitar trio, Heussenstamm has shared the stage with rhythm section virtuosos such as Jan Ashley, Kofi Baker, Alan Diaz, Baba Elefante, Tom Fowler, Jimmy Haslip, John Heard, Vail Johnson, Matt Marshall, Lester McFarland, Vernon Porter, Mike Price, Lee Rocker, Dave Spurr, and Leo Vigil.
Hugo is truly a unique entertainer with the rare ability to please all ages. An extraordinary, modern One-Man Band, Hugo masterfully combines the novel use of keyboard bass foot pedals, rhythm machine, guitarchestra, synth sax and flute, and an exceptional voice to create a remarkable, live full-band sound.
